Almanzor Hemp Farm

Have you dreamed of a country house with a negative Co2 footprint to help improve the health of the planet?

At Doo Too, an NGO whose cause is the reduction of the environmental footprint, we have designed a model of industrial hemp cultivation farms, with integrated country houses.
The pilot farm is called Granja Almanzor, due to the incredible views of this peak and consists of an irrigated farm with hemp cultivation of 2.3Ha in Villanueva de la Vera, with 415M2 of renovated organic tobacco drying rooms, transformed into housing and spaces for drying hemp, not counting the 140 M2 of porches.

The farm has excellent views of both the Almanzor and the southern slope of Gredos from the northern area of the farm and some hills on the other side of the Tiétar River, from the southern area, the River that is less than 100m from the farm. .

All buildings are currently being bio-renovated with materials with a low CO2 footprint.
The floor of all the buildings is made of cyclopean concrete with lime mortar.
The exterior walls are insulated with hemp blocks or alpaca straw, in order to maintain an average temperature of 20 degrees throughout the year.
The coatings are clay in the interior, bathrooms and kitchen and hydraulic lime on the floors and exterior walls.
The roof of the housing buildings is made up of green roofs, irrigated with recycled water from the wetland and in the drying-warehouse with traditional tiles.

The living spaces are distributed between two drying rooms - 237 M2, with 3 suites with toilets. of 36M2 on average each and independent access to the street, a living room with a spectacular chestnut wood beam ceiling of 60M2, a dining room-kitchen of 72M2, a bio Bungalows in suite format of 50M2 next to the bio pool.
All living spaces are surrounded by 170 M2 of porches facing north, south, east and west, which have an irrigation system with spray water to maintain coolness in summer.

The drying-warehouse space has 128.5 M2, which throughout the year, except in the month of September when the hemp harvest is dried, can be used for other purposes that can range from a play area, mini golf, disco. , barbecue, living room, or indoor soccer field.

Water is present on the farm for various uses.
The main use is irrigation, from March to October, through the canal that surrounds the farm and is fed with water from the Rosarito Reservoir.
Water is also the protagonist of a spectacular 160M2 bio pool (4 m wide x 40 m long x 2 m deep), without a purifier, which is kept clean with phytopurifying plants.
In addition, the water feeds a 24M2 wetland where gray water is treated with phytopurification plants, which also allow the water to be used to irrigate the vegetal covers.
For drinking water consumption, the farm has its own artesian well.

The summer air conditioning of all the buildings on the farm is based on the previous climatic insulation of all the buildings and also on water, which runs through clay towers, cooling the environment as if they were giant jugs. And in winter they are inertia stoves, which maintain the temperature at 20 degrees with only 2 logs a day or leftover hemp biomass.

The farm's energy is photovoltaic with panels located on top of the roof of the dryer-warehouse facing south, so that they cannot be seen from the living or cultivation areas.

The entire distribution of spaces is designed so that they can be shared by different friendly families who want to be farmers or for grandparents who want to house their children and grandchildren, regardless of access to the private areas located in Villanueva de la Vera.
